I Got It! #1 Reframe your Thinking

I used to find fog almost claustrophobic and  I would get up and think “darn, another gloomy day.”  Then I decided I needed to reframe my thinking. It seems like fog is going to be a reality here in Calgary -  I don’t remember ever seeing it on so many days and now it is consistently happening.  So “buck up Joan”, I thought, and learn to enjoy the fact that we are encased in this misty, gauzey curtain of muted gray.

What are the good points of another foggy day? We have some beautiful hoar frost on our trees and it makes outside look like a winter wonderland. The fog, when I reframe my thinking, is like a comforting blanket wrapped around me and makes me become more introspective. Instead of looking at far away sights, I must concentrate on what I see just outside my office window.

If your first thought about some event in your life that you cannot control is “I wish this wasn’t happening,” reframe your thinking and see if you can’t find the good in it. You’ve only one life to live, why go around moaning and groaning, instead focus on what’s right about it, instead of what’s wrong.

When you have had to reframe your thinking? How did it work for you?
